# Weki Meki Deserves Better
A history of mistreatment since pre-debut.
PRE DEBUT
During iTeen Girls days, some "fans" started demanding fantagio to kick 2 of the girls out of the group because in their words "they didn't fit the visual". The hate got specially hard for members Rina (in picture) and Sei.Cr: yoojungdailyFans had to report those post for them to be taken down but it took a while. Fantagio did nothing.
DEBUT
-Weki Meki debuted on August 8 (2017) at 8pm. But, because another group debuted at the same date and time a year before, knetz accused Fantagio and Weki Meki of copying the other group. This situation got them a lot of hate in ther debut day.
-During their debut showcase, netizens attacked their skills and physical appearance. Some members where minors then and (as far as I remember) no action was taken against the malicious comments.
SASAENG MANAGER
Right during his debut, fans began to notice Weki Meki's manager strange behavior and actions (like severe unnecessary skinship with the members). They quickly found out she was a known Doyeon sasaeng. It is incredible that Fantagio did not do background checks on their workers and put the girls in danger with their incompetence.
FIRST COMEBACK
-Weki Meki became the best selling rookie girl group of 2017. Fans and not fans looking forward to their first comeback, but it got delayed and the hype died down.It took them 6 months after debut to comeback. The delay was caused by internal problems in the company, which none could've forseen, but the decision of the higher ups ended up affecting the artist the most, specially rookies like Weki Meki.
-Weki Meki Mohae S2
Their own reality show 'Weki Meki Mohae?". In the show we got to see their daily activities as well as, games, challenges and their 1st comeback preparations.
After the end, fans were task to reach 100 million hearts in an episode for season 2 but even after reaching the goal, s2 never came.Cr: yoobeb
IMPROPER PROMOTION
-Weki Meki would always comeback at the same time as larger groups (literaly same week, with 2 or 3 days difference).

What could have been a good strategy to introduce them to new fans ended up not working, as their physical sales began to decline. News of their return would be buried by the comeback news of all these more popular groups and many times casual listeners wouldn't even know they had a comeback. Fans quickly noticed this strategy wasn't working and keep asking Fantagio to change it but Fantagio keep doing it for years.The decline of their sales can also be attributed to Fantagio giving them less amount of fansigns. During debut they had a lot of this events which helped a lot to sell their album.
-No full album
In their almost 7 years of career, Weki Meki has 5 mini album, 2 single albums (+ repackage) and a digital single. Their 2nd and 3rd mini albums were released 2 years apart.
-The lazy design of the Hide&Seek first teaser. The fandom started the #HIDEandSEEKchallenge hashtag to show their own (and better) designs in response.
No photocard in album
Not only was I AM ME, their 5th mini album, realesed a year after their 4th one, but it was only one version and it didn't include any photocard. This made fans mad because photocards are a big reason why people buy multiple copies.
You can't even say it was for the environment sake when Fantagio paired up with an NFT company, this was them being cheap.
btw go watch Sei's show, she actually cares about the enviroment and it's doing something about it.
-No Lightstick for 5 years.
While it took a year for the fandom to get official name and colors, it wasn't till their 5th anniversary that we got a lightstick.
-No solo concert
The release of the lightstick made fans think Weki Meki was getting a concert or another comeback but this never happened.
The only solo event the group ever had, aside from comeback showcases, was their 'Wonderful Moment' fanmeeting and a couple meet&greets.
-For the last years fans had been finding out about the girls individual schedules through other platforms and even fans. Fantagio won't post about it till hours or days later.Their last group schedule (2023) was unknown for most fans.
This was the last time they performed together.
SELF PROMOTION
In 2018, Weki Meki were invited to the final episode of the Super Junior's show 'Super TV' along with other girl groups. There was a competition and the winning group would have the opportunity to be invited to the s2 of Super TV.
With a lot of effort, Weki Meki got first place and became a guest of Super TV 2.
2020, Yoojung and Doyeon were guests on the show 'Knowing Brothers' with other girl group members. In that episode, there was also a competition and the winning couple's group would be invited to a special episode. Yoojung and Doyeon were the winners and Weki Meki became the special guests. In the special episode, Rina thanked DoDaeng for working hard and getting them a job instead of Fantagio.
The (apparent) discrimination of Lua.
Although we don't know what happens behind the scenes, a couple incidents have raised suspicions about the company treatment towards Lua.1- Despite being a great vocalist, the potential group's main vocal before Suyeon joined, she only got 1 line in Tiki Taka, only a 5 words line.
2- FM201.8 project.
All members expect Doyeon, Yoojung and Lua got songs for this collaboration project. DoDaeng had already had collaborations before, but Lua never got the chance.
INACTIVITY
-For the past 2 years, Weki Meki had delivered theis New Year greetings separately.
-Their last comeback was over 2 years ago (Nov, 2021), they barely have any schedule together (last one in 2023) and while they are very active on sns, they should not spend their last contract years without promoting. They are idols, they should be on the stage.
